Today, 32-year-old Shawn Monper was charged by the Department of Justice for making threats to assault and murder President Donald Trump, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and other U.S. officials.
Monper is a Butler, Pennsylvania resident — the same place where an attempt was made to kill President Trump while on the campaign trail last year in July. (READ MORE: God and Donald Trump)
FBI agents concluded that Monper’s threats against Trump occurred between Jan. 15 and April 5, 2025. The investigation also revealed that Monper had obtained a firearms permit after Trump’s inauguration and purchased several guns, body armor, and ammunition.
The Justice Department was notified about Monper’s threats that were posted on YouTube under the username “Mr Satan,” which were posted from mid-February to early April, and detailed in the Department of Justice statement.
“Nah, we just need to start killing people, Trump, Elon, all the heads of agencies Trump appointed, and anyone who stands in the way,” Monper posted on Feb. 17. “Remember, we are the majority, MAGA is a minority of the country, and by the time its time to make the move, they will be weakened, many will be crushed by these policies, and they will want revenge too. Monper continued to make two threats on Trump’s life in March. In response to a livestream of Trump’s address to Congress, Monper commented, “I’m going to assassinate him myself.” He also commented in another post that “ICE are terrorist people, we need to start killing them.”
In the statement, Attorney General Pam Bondi thanked the FBI and the Butler police for investigating and apprehending Monper. “Rest assured that whenever and wherever threads of assassination or mass violence occur, this Department of Justice will find, arrest, and prosecute the suspect to the fullest extent of the law and seek the maximum appropriate punishment.”
Monper was arrested on April 9, and the FBI and the Butler Township Police Department are still conducting a joint investigation. Preliminary and detention hearings for Monper will be held on April 14, 2025.
