Biggest Democrat Fundraising Platform ‘In Turmoil’

Interesting news from across the pond where left-wing fundraising giant ActBlue has hit major issues, according to a report in The New York Times. Seven executives quit the organisation last month – which provides an online platform used by many Democrats for raising small-dollar contributions. ActBlue has enabled the Dems to raise more than $13 billion and is the key plank of the party’s fundraising infrastructure…

Congressional Republicans are investigating the platform. Revelations from independent media sites in the US recently raised concerns over suspiciously large transactions linked to individuals:

A review of Maine-based data shows that one Brunswick resident is recorded in FEC records as having made 11,380 donations totaling $145,726 via ActBlue over a period of six years — or roughly one donation every 1.5 days. Another Scarborough woman is recorded as having given $111,227 to ActBlue via 10,761 distinct transactions over a similar time frame. The unusual volume and frequency of small dollar transaction has led some to question whether the donations are authentic, or whether the named donors are the victims of a kind of identity fraud that has allowed money from an unknown source to enter into U.S. political campaigns.

Needless to say, a major donations scandal will slow down the Democrats’ attempt to rebuild after being crushed by Trump. You can imagine what he would make of such revelations…
