A Swiss think tank has released a report alleging that U.S. intelligence agencies, acting under the direction of the Trump administration, are investigating former Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his assistant, James O’Brien, for allegedly pressuring Romanian authorities to annul the country’s presidential election results.
The think tank’s findings, based on information from a source within the U.S. intelligence community, suggest that Blinken, a key figure in the globalist and interventionist foreign policy establishment, worked with former Romanian Foreign Minister Luminița Odobescu to influence officials in Romania.

The report claims that Blinken and his associates pressured Romanian leaders, including former President Klaus Iohannis and Acting Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, to annul the first-round presidential victory of Călin Georgescu, an anti-establishment candidate critical of NATO.

The goal, according to the report, was to ensure Romania’s continued alignment with pro-NATO and globalist interests.
The allegations raise questions about the potential foreign interference in Romania’s domestic politics, particularly from the Biden-Harris administration.
This report aligns with comments made by Richard Grenell, Special Envoy under President Trump, who asserted that it was not Russia but rather the Biden-Harris administration that interfered in Romania’s recent election.

Conservatives around the world have been targeted in this attack. Romania is the latest example.” pic.twitter.com/bC2RbiQwki

Romania, a southeastern EU member state, has long struggled with corruption.
The political situation took a dramatic turn last December when the country’s Constitutional Court annulled Georgescu’s surprising first-round victory.
The court cited alleged “Russian interference” as the reason for invalidating the election results, claiming that Georgescu had benefited from Moscow’s online influence campaigns.
However, no concrete evidence has been provided to support these claims, further fueling skepticism and unrest among the Romanian public.
At the time of the annulment, Georgescu was leading the race with more than 45% of the vote, while his closest competitor, Crin Antonescu, was at just 20%.

The court’s decision, seen by many as a blow to democracy, has sparked widespread protests across Romania.
Demonstrators are demanding transparency in the electoral process and the reinstatement of the vote.
Georgescu’s supporters contend that the annulment of his victory was a politically motivated action orchestrated by external forces, aiming to ensure Romania’s continued adherence to NATO and Western interests.
The protests reflect growing frustration with Romania’s political system, which many believe has been compromised by foreign influence.

The Diplomatic Affairs think tank, based in Geneva, described the current political situation in Romania as unstable, with interim leadership struggling to maintain control.
“The government appears frozen, unable to navigate the turbulent waters of political strife,” the report noted.
Public confidence in Romania’s political leadership is at an all-time low, with calls for the resumption of the electoral process growing louder.
Romania is also beginning to feel the economic consequences of this political instability. Investor confidence is dropping, and early signs of an economic downturn are emerging.
The political turmoil could have significant consequences for Romania’s development and its role in European geopolitics. As a member of both NATO and the EU, any instability within Romania has broader implications for the region.
The situation has raised questions about Romania’s democratic integrity and whether the country can restore trust in its political system.
As Romania faces a pivotal moment, the implications of its domestic unrest stretch beyond its borders, impacting the future stability of Eastern Europe.
In a related development, the Diplomatic Affairs think tank has announced that the Eastern Europe Peace Forum, originally scheduled for April, will now take place in May at the People’s House (Palace of the Parliament) in Bucharest.
Romanian media reports suggest that prominent figures, including Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson, are expected to attend the event.
