After DUI, High-Profile Son Admits to Substance Abuse Issues [WATCH]

Marcus Jordan, the son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, is now admitting to substance abuse struggles—just weeks after he was arrested for DUI and possession of ketamine.

The 34-year-old’s legal team made the admission in a recent court filing, where they requested that a judge order him into a Pre-Trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Intervention Program.

According to documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Jordan’s attorneys claim their client has been facing “challenges” with both alcohol and substance use.

They argue that enrolling in a treatment program would not only help Jordan personally but also serve the public by minimizing the risk of repeat offenses.

His lawyers insist that the younger Jordan is “amenable to treatment” and willing to waive his right to a speedy trial if the judge approves the request.

So far, no hearing date has been scheduled for the matter, but Jordan faces serious legal trouble. He has been hit with three charges: one felony count of ketamine possession, one misdemeanor DUI with property damage, and one misdemeanor count of resisting an officer.

Despite the charges, he pleaded not guilty to all counts in early February.

Jordan’s arrest on February 4 quickly made headlines after police in Maitland, Florida, found his luxury Lamborghini Urus stuck on railroad tracks at around 1 a.m.

Officers on the scene noted multiple signs of intoxication and reported that he failed field sobriety tests.

Things didn’t improve from there. According to the incident report, Jordan became combative with authorities, leading to his arrest. Bodycam footage later released to the public showed him arguing with officers as they attempted to process him.

Despite the mounting legal issues, Jordan has remained largely silent.

His only public comment came on February 6, when he posted on Instagram that his primary focus is on his sneaker store, The Trophy Room, and that he would not be addressing media coverage of his personal life.

While Jordan may be attempting to downplay the situation, the legal battle ahead of him is far from over. With felony drug possession and DUI charges hanging over his head, the judge’s decision on his treatment request could be a pivotal moment in the case.
