Wendy’s fast food chain refuses to apologize after savage online mockery of Katy Perry’s space trip

Beloved burger chain Wendy’s, best known for their fiery red-headed mascot and “Where’s the beef?” slogan, are refusing to back down after dissing singer Katy Perry.

The unexpected “beef” occurred when the fast-food chain’s social media account, which has become popular for its snarky interactions on X, joked about Perry’s Blue Origin suborbital flight. Under a Pop Crave post announcing that the singer had “returned from space,” Wendy’s simple asked, “Can we send her back?”

But the hits didn’t stop there. Wendy’s went on to make two more posts referencing Perry, one spoofing on her song “I Kissed A Girl” and another joking about “women in STEM.”

Fans of Perry lashed out at the account, but on Thursday, Wendy’s doubled down by refusing to apologize for their jabs.

“We always bring a little spice to our socials,” said a spokesperson speaking to People, “but Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world-talent.”

However, another source told the outlet that not everyone was behind the digs.

“Wendy’s didn’t make a joke — they made a choice,” they said. “This wasn’t harmless banter, this was a billion-dollar brand using its platform to publicly demean a woman… when billion-dollar brands join in, it’s irresponsible.”

But judging by the social media responses, this isn’t going to be what tanks the brand:
