Democratic strategist James Carville has frequently grown erratic while criticizing President Donald Trump and his backers since he took office again in January.
Carville called Trump’s second administration “the most serious crisis” in American history during a March 13 appearance on “The Chris Cuomo Project.” His rhetoric and behavior have matched that level of alarm both before and after. 1. ‘There’s No Hope’: James Carville Exasperated By Popular Left-Wing Figures Not Freaking Out More About Trump
WATCH:
For instance, Carville expressed exasperation during a Jan. 30 episode of his podcast “Politics War Room” over The Wall Street Journal editorial page, Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman and comedian Bill Maher not being sufficiently panicked about Trump’s second term.
“There’s some kind of somewhat mainstream thought, [and that] is — ‘We just got to deal with the situation that we have and try—’ There’s no hope for that,” Carville said. “None. And to believe that is just to deny history of who the guy is.”

WATCH:
Moreover, after Trump’s February Oval Office clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Carville speculated in a Feb. 28 YouTube video that the U.S. president’s behavior may have been due to syphilis.
“It could be a combination of being a fat fucking slob, which, of course, he is. It could be that he can’t sleep at night because his beached whale body can’t allow the circulation in these,” the Democratic strategist said. “I don’t know. I’m not a sleep specialist or a medical doctor. But I think we should revisit the possibility of a syphilis diagnosis.”
3. ‘Most Logical Explanation’: Carville Floats Baseless Theory About Trump Pushing For Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire
LISTEN:
During a March 13 episode of “Politics War Room,” Carville baselessly suggested that Trump may have been pursuing a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire due to Russian President Vladimir Putin directing him to do so.
“My suspicion is that Putin needs a 30-day ceasefire. He’s got to regroup, he’s getting the shit kicked out of him. And he instructed Trump through his cutouts to propose a ceasefire so that way you look good, you look like a peacemaker,” Carville said. “I got to get 30 days, I got to figure out what to do because I’m getting the crap kicked out of me. And I think that’s the most logical explanation there is.”
4. James Carville So Worked Up Over Trump That He Tries To Take ‘Deep Breath’ To Not ‘Punch’ His Computer
WATCH:
On March 4, Carville also told CNN host Wolf Blitzer on “The Situation Room” that he was so frustrated with the Trump administration’s economic policy that he was struggling to refrain from “punching” his computer.
“Wolf, I’m trying to take a deep breath here so that I don’t come out of my chair and start punching my computer. But as I recall, when he ran, he was going to bring grocery prices down from day one,” Carville said. “And he was going to give relief to the American consumer … What are we, six weeks into this? Maybe not even that. And now he said, ‘Well, you might have to pay more, but it’s good for your country.’ Did anybody ever hear that?”
5. ‘Traitors’: James Carville Demands ‘Reckoning’ For Trump ‘Collaborators’ In Unhinged Rant
WATCH:
Furthermore, Carville in an April 4 Politicon video demanded a “reckoning” for entities, such as law firms and businesses, that have collaborated with Trump’s administration.
The Democratic strategist referenced France during World War II, when some women faced humiliation, including head-shaving, for allegedly collaborating with Nazis. With an empty or near-empty wine glass on his nightstand, Carville asserted he does not believe people should attack Trump “collaborators,” but said they must at least face an “intellectual reckoning.”
“Don’t even get me started on — how disgraced must these law firms feel now? How disgraced must these companies that are sucking up to him, that are giving him tens of millions of dollars for access? Do you know what’s going to happen? Do you know how this ends[s]?” Carville said. “Do you know … what the country is going to feel toward collaborators with this regime? Maybe you need to go into history and see what happened in August of 1944 after Paris was liberated. They didn’t take very kindly to the collaborators. No, it was not a very pretty sight in the streets of Paris.”
“I’m not saying that these [are] people who should be placed in pajamas and have their heads shaved, marched down Pennsylvania Avenue and spit on. I’m not saying that,” he continued. “But I’m saying that that did happen. And I’m saying that these people betrayed the French nation in the same way that I think these law firms and these giant corporate conglomerates are betraying the United States.”
