Tragedy hits when illegal alien mom drowns young daughter, critics not buying fiancés excuse

An illegal alien mother living in Los Angeles who was worked up over her immigration status has been accused of drowning her own 7-year-old daughter in their bathtub.

The drama stated last Friday when a neighbor to illegal alien Graciela Xiomara Castellanos, 37, called 911 to report hearing a child screaming, “Mommy, please no! Mommy, please no!”

When the authorities arrived, they found Castellanos’ daughter lying unconscious in the bathtub. She was declared dead shortly thereafter by first responders, according to local station KABC.

Castellanos was subsequently arrested and booked into jail on $2 million bail.

Her fiancé, who’s chosen to remain anonymous and who wasn’t present during the killing of Castellanos’ daughter, has since told KABC that she killed her daughter after becoming depressed over finding out that she might not become a legal resident.

The unnamed fiancé added that she suffers from certain mental issues.

“He claims Castellanos suffers with mental and emotional health issues, causing her to, at times, scream and isolate herself until she calms down,” according to KABC. “The fiancé says she was never violent during the episodes.”

In fact, to hear him tell it, she was — aside for this incident — the perfect mother.

“I want to say that my wife was an almost perfect mom,” he told KABC. “She never told a bad word, yelled at the girl, didn’t hit her. She was the sweetest mom in the world.”

Critics were not pleased by the fiancé’s insinuations that one, Castellanos was a perfectly fine mother, and that two, she killed her daughter because of President Donald Trump’s otherwise fair immigration policies.

Look:

“The alleged facts of this case — where a mother is accused of intentionally taking the life of her young child — are profoundly tragic and deeply unsettling,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Hochman said in a statement.

“Our sympathy goes out to the family and loved ones of this young girl, whose life was cut short far too soon. We are committed to seeking justice through a thorough and fair prosecution and ensuring that the legal process honors the memory of the child and supports the healing of her family,” he added.

If convicted, Castellanos faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. She has since pleaded not guilty. The crazy thing is that Castellanos lives in a “sanctuary city,” meaning she is likely safe from deportation.

Indeed, the Los Angeles City Council just voted late last month to approve “a package of motions” designed to protect illegal aliens just like her.

“In a 10-0 vote, council members instructed staff to report back on policies that would require businesses to notify the city of all Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity, as well as to inform workers of their rights ahead of potential raids,” KABC notes.

“Additionally, the council directed city staff to identify about $540,000 to maintain immigration legal services — which would cover a gap created when the Trump Administration froze such funding,” the reporting continues.
