Presidential health expert tells Mark Halperin Trump’s medical report was ‘excellent’

Daily Caller News Foundation

Presidential health records expert Raymond Scalettar told journalist Mark Halperin Monday that President Donald Trump’s health report was “excellent” in terms of its level of details and test results.

Trump’s doctor, United States Navy Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, asserted Sunday that the president “exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health” in a memo released by the White House following the president’s Friday annual physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Scalettar, on “2WAY Tonight,” said the report was unprecedentedly comprehensive and expressed agreement with its conclusions.

“It’s an excellent report. It’s very detailed. We never had anything like this before. It’s very specific. He’s got excellent numbers as far as his physical examination and the findings, and his laboratory tests are excellent,” Scalettar told Halperin. “I think he’s, from the standpoint of what is reported — and I have no reason to doubt it’s complete and honest — and the integrity of a captain of the United States Navy, I think it’s an excellent report. And he appears to be in excellent physical and mental health.”

“The only thing that you might compare to previous reports is the fact that his lipid profile has improved tremendously and his LDL cholesterol is down considerably. His weight is down,” he continued. “That’s the only thing you can do, is compare and consider the fact that he did have a severe bout of COVID, which required throwing the book at him. He seems to have done very well and his musculoskeletal system must be remarkable to be able to play golf the way he does.”

Barbabella noted Trump’s “active lifestyle” in the memo.

“President Trump’s days include multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability and frequent victories in golf events,” he wrote.

Trump weighed 224 pounds, and had a blood pressure of 128/74, with a resting pulse of 62 while scoring 30 out of a possible 30 on a cognitive test, according to the memo. He also has a scar from the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania, during which a bullet grazed his right ear and “benign lesions” on his skin.

The president takes two medications to control cholesterol, a cream for a skin condition and aspirin as a preventative measure, according to the memo.

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander in Chief and Head of State,” Barbabella wrote.
