US Space Force Col. removed for undermining J.D. Vance

In a classic example of “f*ck around, find out,” U.S. Space Force Col. Susan Meyers has been removed from her post for undermining Vice President J.D. Vance.

Meyers, who was the commander of the 821st Space Base Group, sent out a troubling email after the vice president visited Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, informing all personnel at Pituffik that she “spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit — the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you,” according to Military.com.

“I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base,” Meyers wrote in the email.

“I commit that, for as long as I am lucky enough to lead this base, all of our flags will fly proudly — together,” Meyers’ email message to the base said in reference to Denmark and Greenland.

Having assumed command in July, Meyers’ luck ran out after she went rogue.

Vance voiced the desire for the U.S. to take control of Greenland, which is a territory of fellow NATO member Denmark, the Times noted, adding that President Trump has said he supports the Greenland people’s right to self-determination,

“Our message to Denmark is very simple,” Vance said during his visit. “You have not done a good job by the people of Greenland. You have underinvested in the people of Greenland, and you have underinvested in the security of this incredible, beautiful landmass.”

Vance spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk told Military.com: “President Trump has made his vision for an enhanced security footprint in the Arctic abundantly clear, and the vice president is committed to implementing the president’s agenda. This includes strengthening the partnership and cooperation between the United States and Greenland, which is critical for both American national security and the safety of our partners worldwide.”

There were few, if any, tears shed online over Meyers’ removal — here’s a quick sampling of responses, as seen on X:
