This incident adds to a string of aviation-related scares involving President Trump’s travel arrangements.

In March 2022, President Trump’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from New Orleans. The plane had been in the air for only a short period when one of its four engines failed.

Trump had been returning from a donor retreat hosted by the Republican National Committee. The pilot safely turned the aircraft around and landed without further incident.

Another emergency landing involving Trump’s travel occurred in the summer of 2023, just weeks after the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

While en route, Trump’s plane was diverted to Billings, Montana due to an unspecified mechanical issue. No injuries were reported during that incident.

Thursday’s helicopter switch did not cause any delays in Trump’s schedule. He proceeded to attend the planned LIV Golf dinner at Doral and was later expected to arrive at Mar-a-Lago for the remainder of the evening.

The Secret Service has not released any further information regarding the mechanical issue with the helicopter. No injuries or threats were reported in connection with Thursday’s aircraft change.

President Trump has maintained a full travel schedule amid ongoing political activity and public events, frequently making use of private aircraft and helicopters for rapid transit between engagements.
