Back after the election Darren Jones railed against Tory taxpayer spending on communications: “The government communication service was spending hundreds of millions of pounds on filming content for Conservative ministers’ social media channels.’” He pledged to crackdown on needless ministerial puffery…

For some reason then Chris Bryant has started his own podcast – paid for by DCMS and the taxpayer. With three episodes the podcast has recorded 107 total minutes of content. For all that trouble it has got a total of four reviews on Spotify. It isn’t even on Apple Music…

On YouTube episodes of the podcast with titles like “Victorian bottoms are different from modern ones!” go unwatched. That particular clip has got 186 views and one like after being up for nine days. The FCDO started a new podcast series too since the election called “The Diplomat Diaries” before giving up on it. This audiovisual lark ain’t easy – does the taxpayer have to foot the bill for it?
