The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) is finding out that they are no longer in charge of press briefings, and they are hatching a plan to show their displeasure.
Journalists with the association are objecting to the Trump administration’s proposal to assign seating in the press briefing room, and now they’re coming up with ways to push back. One of those ways, according to sources who spoke to Semafor, one of the suggestions is a “sit-in.”
“According to two people familiar with the discussions, among the proposals raised by members was a potential Civil Rights era-style “sit-in” protest, in which members would return to their old seats and refuse to leave them,” the outlet reported.
The WHCA is not commenting, saying that the Sunday meeting was off-the-record, but members who did speak on the matter said it remained “in flux.”
“On Fox News on Monday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration had tried to ‘broker a meeting’ about the proposed seating changes and said the briefing room ‘does not belong to elitist journalists here in Washington,’” the Semafor article added.
White House communications director Steven Cheung, when asked about the potential sit-in, reportedly replied: “Hahahahahahahaha…..…hahahahahahahahaha.”
X users reacted to the news of the potential protest:
If they do that, they should be arrested because that sounds pretty insurrectiony to me. Also, this would just show the world how immature and destructive the MSM in America continues to be.

Let them go in & sit in their old spots. @PressSec should have new media, podcasters, conservative media and livestreamers already in an alternate location.
Karoline can go into the old briefing room, put up a ‘Briefing Has Been Moved’ sign and walk out.

It would seem logical that the White House and all of it’s functions are under the President, not the employees. I mean, I suppose that’s how it was under Biden, but he wasn’t the President.

Easy solution if so. @PressSec leaves the room and conducts her briefing outside w the sane media members. Their access passes will then be revoked. It’s a privilege not a right.

Beyond stupid. 3rd grade pouting and temper tantrums because the teacher changed your seating assignment. Grow up.
