This Aspect of the Atlantic’s “Scoop” Is All Wet – The American Spectator | USA News and PoliticsThe American Spectator

I just ran across this fascinating article that overlaps directly with what the New York Post calls Operation Overshare, AKA the Atlantic/Signalgate/leaked “war plans” story. (RELATED: From Watergate … To This?)

Jeffrey Goldberg — the Atlantic’s flamboyantly dishonest, bottom-feeding editor-in-chief — now claims that the use of the Signal e-chat service by President Donald J. Trump’s foreign affairs team was, by itself, an act of recklessness. Goldberg and co-author Shane Harris wrote in the Atlantic on Wednesday: “Experts have repeatedly told us that use of a Signal chat for such sensitive discussions poses a threat to national security.”

But, of course, this is 180 degrees opposite what the Atlantic wrote in 2017, when it praised Signal as the platonic form of secure communications among high-level government officials.

“Signal, the gold standard of encrypted messaging and calling, is used by staffers who work for President Trump, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio,” the Atlantic reported in February 2017. In fact, this X post shows the laudatory words about Signal from the same publication that now claims that this service is as secret as graffiti on a brick wall.

Keep in mind that President Joe Biden authorized Signal for government communications. CIA Director John Ratcliffe testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee. “So that we’re clear, one of the first things that happened when I was confirmed as CIA director was Signal was loaded onto my computer at the CIA, as it is for most CIA officers,” Ratcliffe said under oath. “One of the things that I was briefed on very early, Senator, was by the CIA records management folks about the use of Signal as a permissible work use. It is. That is a practice that preceded the current administration to the Biden administration.”

Jeffrey “Losers and Suckers” Goldberg may be the biggest liar in the D.C. press corps. He faces stiff competition for that title. If Goldberg tells you it’s raining outside, ask five other people before you grab an umbrella.
