Left-Wing Guru Confuses Some Backbenchers for the Government

Co-conspirators may have seen recent content from viral wealth tax campaigner Gary Stevenson, who says he was “the best trader in the world for one of the biggest banks in the world.A claim masterfully taken apart by the FT

Gary said on his channel yesterday that the Labour Party got in touch with him:

Recently we got contacted by the Labour Party, basically which is the first time we’ve ever been contacted by the Labour Party, and they said ‘Oh you know we’ve been seeing what we’ve been doing on the channel and we would like to send some MPs onto the channel to talk to you’ about presumably the economy… I felt since we are criticising these guys a lot on the channel we kind of have kind of an obligation to like let them come on and defend themselves they are literally the the party of government in this country.

Gary goes on to talk about his invite for a torturous 15 minutes during which he claims his defence of his robust principles on the podcast “could potentially sour our relations with the Labour Party which could influence our ability to influence them. He’s giving it a lot of thought…

Guido got in touch with Labour who confirmed they hadn’t invited him. Downing Street confirmed they had no contact with him either. As it turns out it was the team running a group of self-proclaimed “pro-growth” backbench Labour MPs at the Labour Growth Group who invited Gary to chat. With no connection to the party or the government…

Stevenson, who struggles to differentiate between the concepts of revenue and profit, might want to brush up on the difference between MPs (glorified councillors) and government. Guido is happy to share some tips if Gary is interested…
