The DoD ‘does not do climate change crap’

U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Secretary Pete Hegseth made it clear that the Pentagon “does not do climate change crap.”

Hegseth was responding to a post on social media by CNN’s Haley Britzky when he declared his department is focused on “training and warfighting” rather than the climate change programs the left is crying over.

“The DOD and DOGE have said they plan to cut climate programs in the Pentagon,” Britzky wrote on X, alerting, “but officials & experts are warning that climate efforts at DOD are directly linked to military readiness, and say cuts could put troops and military operations at risk.”

Explaining how Hegseth and other Pentagon officials have pointed out that climate initiatives at the department are wasteful spending, Britzky wrote that “officials and experts argue such thinking is short-sighted.”

“In response to multiple questions from CNN about military readiness as it relates to climate programs and the cutting of funding to research and other efforts, Pentagon Press Secretary John Ullyot said the Defense Department ‘is working closely with DOGE to identify efficiencies and savings across the department on behalf of taxpayers while we restore the warrior ethos and refocus our military on its core mission of deterring, fighting and winning wars,’” the piece continued.

Hegseth weighed in, backing the press secretary’s words.

“John is, of course, correct,” the defense secretary wrote. “The @DeptofDefense does not do climate change crap. We do training and warfighting.”

“Hard to believe this even needs to be said, but climate change has nothing to do with war-fighting & cutting this nonsense does not put troops or operations at risk,” Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell wrote in response to Britzky’s piece.

Parnell laid out examples of the wasteful spending at the Pentagon that has already been outed by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in a post this month.

Hegseth said that veterans “care just like we do, to find the redundancies and identify the last vestiges of Biden priorities — the DEI, the woke, the climate change B.S., that’s not core to our mission, and we’re going to get rid of it all.”
