‘It matters’: Piers Morgan doesn’t let James Carville off hook after he dismisses trans athlete issue

Daily Caller News Foundation

British host Piers Morgan challenged Democratic strategist James Carville after he suggested on Friday that the issue of biological males playing female sports is insignificant.

Carville has previously downplayed the issue, even going as far as to say he doesn’t “really fucking understand it or give a shit” about it. When Carville expressed a similar sentiment on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” after Morgan raised the issue, the British host argued it is important and played a major role in former Vice President Kamala Harris’ November election loss to President Donald Trump.

“You know what I say about that and what you should say? If you’re concerned about the state track meet, please do something about it. We have an athletic association, they can do it,” Carville said. “But if … you more concerned about bathroom stalls, then hang out in bathrooms. This is not of a concern to me. There are people that can deal with this. I’m worried about the cost of living. I’m worried about access to healthcare.”

Morgan cut Carville off to disagree with him.

“I would dispute that. A lot of Democrats have tried to say to me, ‘It didn’t really matter, the trans stuff and the woke stuff’ and I keep saying, I think it matters more than you think,” he said. “That when Trump positioned himself as the voice of common sense, and you had a party led by [former President] Joe Biden and Kamala, who both thought it’s fine for biological men to compete in women’s sport, for example, that actually that was more powerful than people realized, in the third tier of why they voted.”

Morgan said the economy and immigration were the two most important issues in the election, but that the “woke mind virus” was the third and that Harris was a proponent of it.

Harris’ top super PAC estimated that voters moved 2.7% toward Trump after watching a popular ad featuring radio host Charlamagne Tha God saying he was against the former vice president’s support of taxpayer-funded sex changes for prisoners.

Charlamagne also called the issue of trans athletes “a losing talking point” in February.

“It impacts such a small, small group of people, but it makes a whole lot of people think folks lack common sense, so why are they even having that conversation?” the radio host asked.

Almost 80% of Americans feel that biological males “should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports,” according to a January New York Times/Ipsos poll.
