Fox News host Greg Gutfeld said Friday evening that Democrats are “paralyzed” by their “activist trauma” and the “sunk cost” of “terrible policies,” which could continue to result in them having no control.
Since President Donald Trump’s election win, Democrats have struggled to gain control of a unified message for their party, with some concerned about further pushing progressive policies. Gutfeld, on “The Five,” discussed what he called the Democrats’ lack of authenticity with voters. He highlighted a recent TikTok trend that some lawmakers attempted to jump on. Gutfeld cast doubt on the “four categories” of Democrats gathering together to help win in the midterm and general elections.
“I mean, if the Democrats are facing a fork in the road, it probably belongs to Governor Pritzker. I don’t think there’s four categories. I think there are only two, pragmatists and losers,” Gutfeld said. “The pragmatists, which are like Harold [Ford Jr.], these are people who realize that you got to change or you’re going to die. The losers are the people who prefer to die rather than change, but they’re operating in an illusion where they think they’re winning.”
“They think that their activist drama still exerts control or power over the American people when, in fact, it’s only a tiny group of activists. They’re basically, they’ve got guns and they’re shooting blanks. Nobody buys it,” Gutfeld added. “[It] actually makes their adversaries, Republicans or Trump, look better by acting the way they do. They’re also paralyzed by the sunk cost of all these years, pushing terrible policies. You don’t want to let it go because you put so much into it.”
Democrats faced backlash online from conservatives Thursday after posting a video in which Democrat Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jasmine Crockett, Lauren Underwood, Katherine Clark, Judy Chu and Susie Lee could be seen jumping up and down in a fighter stance mimicking video game characters, which was previously a TikTok trend.
Democrats, Gutfeld said, refused to “admit they’re wrong,” before he advocated for their party to split and “let the freaks” start their own coalition.

“So how do you unite a party where a faction is basically on a path to annihilation and they’re in your plane? They’re a hijacker on your plane,” Gutfeld said. “That hijacker is not going to have a change of heart. Oppression politics and identity politics is an ideology. It prevents you from changing your mind. So you need to charge the cockpit and toss them out. You actually do need to split the Democratic Party.”
“Let the freaks start their own, ‘Everything is racist’ party. They can call themselves the POTO party, the party of the oppressed. But then that leaves your party, Harold, and that’s where you have to redefine what you are without them, which is hard because the foundation has been cultural issues for so long under the rubric of identity politics and oppression politics,” Gutfeld said.
During Trump’s joint address to Congress Tuesday evening, Democrats refused to stand as Trump honored a 13-year-old boy, D.J. Daniel, who was diagnosed with cancer and given an honorary Secret Service agent title. Democrat Texas Rep. Al Green was booted out of the chamber during the event by Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson after he repeatedly attempted to yell at the president.
“So the party is in a death spiral, and it’s gonna keep going because all you gotta look at is the other areas where there’s identity politics,” Gutfeld said. “There are three, academia, Hollywood, Democratic Party. If you look at Hollywood, you look at academia, you’re seeing that it’s inside them, and they can’t get it out.”
“It spreads. It’s a tumor. It’s feasting on the host. If Hollywood can’t get it out, if academia is stuck with it forever, how are the Democrats gonna shake this stuff? You gotta just cut the limb off, kids. Tie him to the airplane seat. I mean, you’re so into trans. That’s a cutting, that’s right,” Gutfeld said.
The Democratic Party has attempted to oppose Trump for fulfilling his campaign promises. The party’s senators blocked Republican Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act on Monday evening, 51 to 45, along party lines, killing a cloture vote on the bill.
According to a recent Harvard CAPS Harris Poll, 69% of Americans surveyed said they support ‘banning men who have undergone operations and taken hormones to become women from girls’ sports,’ with 50% of those supporting the measure identifying as Democrats.
