President Donald Trump delivered a strong and humorous message to the two American astronauts stuck in space, making it clear that their rescue is a priority under his leadership, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Speaking from the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump assured them:
“We’re coming up to get you.”
Elon Musk Called This Financial News ‘Terrifying’
Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams initially planned for just an eight-day mission aboard the International Space Station after their Boeing Starliner docked in June 2024.

However, due to technical failures and safety risks with the spacecraft, NASA deemed it too dangerous for them to return home as scheduled. The result? More than eight months stranded in orbit.
Trump took direct aim at former President Joe Biden, holding him accountable for abandoning the astronauts.
“Biden was embarrassed by what happened, and he said, ‘Leave them up there.’ The most incompetent president in our history allowed that to happen to you. This president won’t let that happen. We love you, and we’re coming up to get you.”
According to current NASA plans, the astronauts are expected to return to Earth on March 19 or 20, but not aboard their original Boeing spacecraft. Instead, they will come home on a SpaceX vehicle, courtesy of Elon Musk.

During his remarks, Trump couldn’t resist a little humor, describing Williams as “the woman with the wild hair,” referencing her zero-gravity appearance.
“Good solid head of hair she’s got… there’s no games with her hair.”
The president also acknowledged the absurdity of their situation.
“Eight months is a long time. I hope they like each other—maybe they’ll love each other, I don’t know,” he joked. “But they’ve been left up there. Think of it.”

Wilmore’s family has been vocal about the strain of his extended mission. His wife and two daughters, who live in Houston, Texas, have waited anxiously for his return.
His 19-year-old daughter Daryn posted an emotional video last month, revealing how her father missed key family moments, including Christmas and his parents’ 30th wedding anniversary.
Williams, married for 20 years, also remains separated from her husband as the crisis drags on.
In a lighthearted exchange with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, Trump asked if he should personally join the SpaceX rescue mission. Doocy shot back, “If that’s an option, yes.”

Trump responded with a smirk, “That’s terrible, I thought he liked me.”
Elon Musk, never one to shy away from controversy, has revealed that SpaceX had offered to rescue the astronauts months ago, but the Biden administration rejected the proposal out of political spite.
“It ended up being like this political football and a hotly contested topic,” Musk told Joe Rogan in a recent interview. “We offered to bring them back early. This offer was rejected by the Biden administration.”
Musk didn’t mince words, asserting that the delay was politically motivated. “There’s no way they’re gonna make anyone who’s supporting Trump look good,” he said.
When questioned about the situation during a press conference from space, Wilmore distanced himself from the political drama but subtly affirmed Musk’s statements.

“I can only say that Mr. Musk, what he says, is absolutely factual,” he stated. “We have no information on that, though, whatsoever. I can tell you at the outset, all of us have the utmost respect for Mr. Musk and, obviously, respect and admiration for our president of the United States, Donald Trump.”
With their return finally on the horizon, Trump’s promise to bring them home adds another chapter to this saga. Unlike Biden’s failed leadership, Trump is making it clear—no American gets left behind.
