Democrats are facing criticism following President Donald Trump’s joint congressional address on Tuesday night and their performance during a House Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary cities the following day.
The response to their actions has not been favorable, as post-speech polling suggests that their political stunts did not resonate with the American public.
During Trump’s address, multiple moments stood out, including the removal of Rep. Al Green (D-TX) from the chamber after he repeatedly interrupted the president.

House Sergeant at Arms escorted Green out following his disruptions. Another moment that drew attention was the decision by nearly all Democrats—except for one—to remain seated and refrain from applauding for 13-year-old brain cancer survivor DJ Daniel, whom Trump named an honorary Secret Service agent.
Beyond those incidents, House Democrats engaged in additional displays, including holding up paddle signs with political messages and wearing pink to signal what they called “solidarity” with women.
However, the reactions to these demonstrations were largely negative, with critics arguing they distracted from the substance of the address.
Symone Sanders and Michael Steele HATED the Democrats’ “bingo signs.”

The following day, Democrats faced further scrutiny during a House Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary cities.
The hearing featured testimony from several Democratic mayors, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is now defending the city’s sanctuary status before Congress.
“The city is also safer because of our welcoming city ordinance.”

Johnson, who is currently grappling with a seven percent approval rating among Chicago residents, struggled to defend his city’s policies.
Meanwhile, Johnston faced sharp questioning over Denver’s handling of a member of the Tren de Aragua gang.

The individual, a known criminal, was released instead of being turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) despite an official request.
During the hearing, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) shifted the discussion away from illegal immigration and crime, instead choosing to focus on egg prices.
Holding up a poster comparing the cost of a carton of eggs to the price of an AK-47 magazine, Krishnamoorthi addressed Trump directly.
“President Trump, if you’re watching this hearing, I respectfully ask when will egg costs be high enough for you to issue one executive order on bird flu? $10 a carton? $15 a carton? It will soon be cheaper to buy a magazine for an AK-47 than breakfast. This is flat out wrong,” Krishnamoorthi said.

The congressman then asked the mayors whether their constituents were more concerned about immigration or the price of eggs.
The remarks quickly drew reactions, as critics questioned the relevance of bird flu and egg prices in a hearing focused on sanctuary city policies.
Others noted that inflation, including rising grocery costs, had been a major issue under former President Joe Biden, yet had not prompted similar outbursts from Democrats.
The sequence of events—from the response to Trump’s address to the chaotic Oversight Committee hearing—has fueled ongoing debate about the effectiveness of the Democratic Party’s messaging and tactics.
As public reactions continue to unfold, polling suggests that many Americans remain focused on key issues such as crime, border security, and economic stability.
