Trump Renames National Refuge After Girl Allegedly Slain By Illegal Migrant

During a Congressional speech Tuesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge to honor Jocelyn Nungaray.

In June, two undocumented immigrants from Venezuela allegedly killed a 12-year-old girl after they allegedly sexually abused her. They allegedly disposed of her body in a creek. During his speech, Trump acknowledged the presence of Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray and recounted the story of how Jocelyn was kidnapped, assaulted, and murdered after a simple trip to a local convenience store.

“She was kidnapped, tied up, assaulted for two hours under a bridge, and horrifically murdered. Arrested and charged with this heinous crime are two illegal alien monsters from Venezuela, released into America by the last administration through their ridiculous open border,” Trump said. “The death of this beautiful 12-year-old girl and the agony of her mother and family touched our entire nation greatly. Alexis, I promised that we would always remember your daughter, your magnificent daughter.”

The executive order specifically commemorates Jocelyn. In her memory, the 34,000-acre Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge near her home will be renamed the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge, ensuring that her love for animals and nature is honored permanently.

“I signed an order keeping my word to you. One thing I have learned about Jocelyn is that she loved animals so much. She loved nature. Across Galveston Bay, from where Jocelyn lived in Houston, you will find a magnificent national wildlife refuge, a pristine, peaceful, 34,000-acre sanctuary for all of God’s creatures on the edge of the Gulf of America,” Trump said. During a congressional hearing on Sept. 10, Nungaray attributed her daughter’s death to the “open border policies” and catch and release programs of the Biden-Harris administration. She criticized the federal immigration law that permits the Department of Homeland Security to “parole” migrants for “humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit” instead of detaining them.

Trump issued an executive order criticizing the previous administration’s immigration policies, which he said allowed cartels, terrorists, and other dangerous elements to overrun the southern border. This, Trump said, led to the tragic and preventable murders of many American citizens, making a case for the direct impact of these policies on national security and public safety.
